Early Christmas Treat this year! During Tonight's Lunar Eclipse,
Karim Jaafar/AFP/Getty Images The moon appears red during a lunar eclipse in the Qatari capital of Doha, 28 August 2007.It's going to happen again tonight, and be visible across North America. |
"The moon will continue to progress into the shadow, and then at approximately 2:41, it will be completely in the shadow, 2:41 Eastern Time, 11:41 p.m. Pacific Time. And for 72 minutes, while the moon is completely immersed in the shadow of the Earth, one would think that since the shadow is going to cut off all sunlight from the moon, that it would black out completely. It will not."Instead, around the time of total eclipse, it's going to appear to light up like a coppery orange or reddish ball, and the reason for that is that the sunlight is going to be strained through the Earth's atmosphere, and our atmosphere is going to act like a lens and bend that ruddy hue — the same ruddy color that you see in sunrise and sunset — onto the surface of the moon while it's immersed in the shadow."
On the Net:
- NASA eclipse page: http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse.html
- Griffith Observatory: http://www.griffithobservatory.org

Also THIS Lunar Eclipse tonight coincides with the winter solstice, which is the shortest day of the year. The last time this happened was in 1639!!!!!!!!!! HOW FREAKING COOL is THAT!
Christmas terrorism: Attack believed possible in U.S., U.K.?!!!?
“Terrorists may seek to exploit the likely significant psychological impact of an attack targeting mass gatherings in large metropolitan areas during the 2010 holiday season which has symbolic importance to many in the United States. We continue to assess, however, the timing of a terrorist attack depends more on terrorists’ readiness to execute an attack rather than a desire to attack on a specific date.”

How to Use Colors to Decorate Your Room! ☺
Colors can set a room’s mood and can visually affect its size. Using the right colors can single-handedly create a space that reflects your mood and style.
On your walls, different shades give differing effects:

Pale shades
Use a soft tint of color to create a calming effect and to make the room appear larger. Nice pale shades that are most effective are butter yellow, shell pink, or misty green.
Bright shades
To make walls stand out and to create an energizing atmosphere, choose vivid colors. You can try using cobalt blue, canary yellow, or grass green.
Deep shades
Rich, deep shades conjure feelings of comfort and safety, and make the room look cozier.
Why not try Bordeaux red, amber gold, or sapphire blue.
Make your kitchen cabinets come alive with color.
Cabinet color can open up or pare down the kitchen.

Pale shades are best for reflecting light and thus make the kitchen more open and airy.
Bright shades unify the space by creating a strong focal point. Bright shades can also distract the eye away from appearance of clutter.
Deep shades can disguise flaws. Because deep shades can absorb light, the dents and scratches seem to vanish.
Colors on furniture
Colors can enhance, refine, or highlight a piece of furniture.

Pale shades can lighten appearance of bulky furniture, making them look more delicate.
Bright shades draw attention to the furniture piece, making it the focal point of a room.
Deep shades can make a particular piece of furniture look more substantial and serious.
Colors on floors
Add intimacy to a room and highlight a focal furniture piece with floor color.

Pale shades showcase elegant dark wooden furniture by providing a sharp contrast.
Bright shades create a similar effect to that of an area rug by highlighting a focal of any room.
Deep shades lend coziness to a large room without making it appear smaller.
Set the mood of the room with color.

Colors can have an effect on people both emotionally and physically. According to Dr. Morton Walker, author of The Power of Color, bright colors energize, causing a rise in blood pressure and heart rate. Pale colors, on the other hand, slow the action of the heart.
Pale colors are known to relieve stress and lower blood pressure. They produce a sense of warmth and have the ability to soften hard surfaces like sinks and counters, making them very appealing for use in kitchens and baths. Pale colors work well in bedrooms, too, or in any room you want to have a stress-free feel.
To feel energized and create a dynamic mood in a room, use bright colors. Such colors are great for children’s rooms, kitchens, family rooms, or anywhere you want a lively mood to prevail. Just keep in mind that, when using brights, a little goes a long way. Intersperse bright shades with neutral colors to keep them from becoming too overpowering.
Deep shades have a quiet strength about them that is very comforting. Deep shades are believed to reduce marvelous excitement and relax the mind. For this reason, these shades are the choice for dens or master baths, in which you want to spend time alone contemplating.

Do you like Flowers? Well the...
Netherlands are one of the world's most famous flower-producing countries. Flowers grown in Netherlands are exported worldwide every day. That makes flower production a significant part of Dutch economy and that gives them a right to organize annual events dedicated to flowers. There is a number of such festivals which are held in Netherlands every year and one of them is The Stichting Bloemencorso Valkenswaard or The Foundation Flower Parade Valkenswaard. This parade is held in September, every year, and it takes a place in Valkenswaard. It is unique chance for those who love flowers to see a plenty of creative and colorful artworks made of flowers. Here you can see some exciting photos took during this festival on the streets of Valkenswaard.

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" vote TOMORROW!
Find out the results of the DADT repeal vote as soon as it happens: join our Mobile Action Network by texting "HRC" to 30644, join us on Facebook, or follow HRC on Twitter.
Dear Readers,
Stop what you're doing, pick up the phone, and call your senators: The senate has scheduled a final vote on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" repeal for tomorrow. Even though a majority of senators support repeal, we need 60 votes to overcome a filibuster – and when they last voted, we had 57. This could be our last chance for years. Every single call counts. And with the vote just hours away, every single minute counts. Whether your senator is a courageous champion of repeal, or a die-hard opponent – you still need to call. Pro-repeal senators need to know we're counting on them to give every ounce of effort and overcome any last-minute tricks by John McCain and Senate Republican leaders – and those on the wrong side of history need to know their constituents are watching. Every senator has staff on hand to answer the phones and speak to constituents. Make your quick and easy calls now: Sen. Robert Casey at (202) 224-6324 and Sen. Arlen Specter at (202) 224-4254. Right-wing activists are desperately trying to stop this bill, and I can guarantee they are lighting up the phone lines right now. If you don't get through right away, try again.
One more thing: save the Congressional Switchboard number – (202) 224-3121 – in your cell phone right now. Then hand it to a friend, then a co-worker, and ask them to make two calls. While you're at it, tell your family and your Facebook friends to call as well. We need as many calls as possible in order to make repeal happen in 2010. I'll be making calls too, Joe Solmonese President P.S. Years of work, thousands of volunteer hours, hundreds of thousands of phone calls, emails, lobby visits, and town halls come down to this. Please call now, and tell everyone you know to call! This link is specific to you, so please take action before you forward to your friends. Having trouble clicking on the links above?
